The Hawks of Urbana HS traveled to the Hornets nest for the 1st round play off match Friday night. #34 Jake Funk scored on a 3 yd run, the Hornets fail at a 2 point conversion, score Damascus 6 Urbana 0 with 8:51 left in the 1st qtr. The Hawks have trouble moving the ball and end up having to punt. #2 Jalen Christian rushes for 52 yds setting the Hornets up with a 1st and goal on the 6 yard line. #34 Jake Funk scored on a 3 yd run, the Hornets fail at a 2 point conversion, score Damascus 12 Urbana 0 with about a minute left in the 1st qtr.
In the second quarter Urbana has trouble moving the ball, and it leads to more scores from Damascus, #34 Jake Funk scores on a short run, with the extra point being no good score Damascus 18 Urbana 0, and a 50+ yard run with the extra point being good score Damascus 25 Urbana 0. #21 Raekwon Gray breaks out on a 50+ yard run that moves Urbana down near the goal line. The Hawks can not get it in and end up settling on a filed goal, score Damascus 35 Urban 3 with 6 minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter. With 4 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, #34 Jake Funk scores again on another short run, the extra point being good sets the score at Damascus 32 Urban 3. Hornets #4 Alec Magas sacks the Hawks QB for a 10 yard loss, leading to the Hawks having to punt. With about a minute left in the 2nd quarter #2 Jalen Christian catches a pass and scores, the extra point being good sets the score at Damascus 39 Urbana 3, leading to halftime.
There was no scoring in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter, #34 Jake Funk scores and the extra point, rounds out the game with a score of 46-3.
