Quince Orchard Upsets Northwest

When Northwest came to conquer at the Cougar Dome in 2013, the weather was unseasonably warm. This year, Northwest, the reigning 4A MD State Champs, hosted Quince Orchard under cooler, autumn-like conditions. All of QO’s preparation and determination paid off as they dominated the game, scoring twice before NW answered. NW often seemed rattled, as if they hadn’t been adequately challenged over most of this season.

Though Quince Orchard was able to score an impressive 52 points, they still gave up 4 touchdowns to Northwest. QO Head Coach John Kelley doesn’t want his players to lose proper perspective on the opponent they are likely to meet up with again soon during playoffs. He was proud of what his QO Cougars had accomplished that night, but, regarding the newly upset NW Jaguars, he warned that no one should forget, “Northwest is a great team.”

Quince Orchard will have home-field advantage if that likely sudden-death playoff game occurs between the neighboring schools. When the 2014 post-season begins after this Friday night’s games, both NW and QO will still be hard at work for long hours under their stadium lights, using each other as prime motivation for things to come.

Final Score: Northwest 27 – Quince Orchard 52
