Watkins Mill wins big over Wheaton

The Knights of Wheaton HS are playing their home game at Montgomery Blair HS Saturday afternoon against the Wolverines of Watkins Mill HS. Both teams are entering today’s event with a record of 0-2. The first big play of the game came on a fumble recovery by #3 Gradi Tshilombo on Watkins Mills own 31 yard line. Following it up #6 Isaiah Offutt scores a touchdown on a 18 yard run, and the ensuing extra point attempt being good, put the Wolverines on the board 1st 7-0 with 3:29 left in the 1st quarter.

Ending the 1st quarter, with the Knights having the ball on Watkins Mills 28 yard line, and setting up a 3rd down and 12, the Knights advance and go for it on 4th and 1 and are short, turning the ball over on downs, Watkins Mill moves the ball some and ends up being forced to punt, Knights ball on their 43. The Knights start moving down field and with 1:32 left in the 2nd quarter, end up scoring on a 17 yard run by #2 Dominyck Sims, with the ensuing extra point being no good, Watkins Mill 7-6. Watkins Mill #18 Daquan Wims scores on a 5 yard pass and the Wolverines go for a 2 point conversion and come up short. Going into halftime score is Watkins Mill 13-Wheaton 6.

Watkins Mills #2 Brian McNeary recovers a fumble on the Knights 28 yard line with 9:24 left in the 3rd quarter, that setting up a score by #6 Isaiah Offutt on a 21 yard pass with 7:19 left in the 3rd, again missing a 2 point conversion, Watkins Mill leads 19-6, The Knights are having lots of trouble moving the ball and end up giving the ball back to the Wolverine and they capitalize on it with #8 Markel Grant scoring on a 3 yard keeper, and this time they connect on the 2 point conversion, 27-6 with 11:15 left in the 4th. As The Knights are looking a little stronger, #3 Gradi Tshilombo intercepts a pass and runs 70 yards to score, again failing to complete a 2 point conversion, 33-6 , with 8:45 remaining in the 4th. The Knights are moving down field and are breathing down on the Wolverines with 1:17 left in the game, end up on the 3 yard line and the Wolverines get a penalty, half the distance to the goal line and then #2 Dominyck Sims scores on a 1.5 yard run, they fail to complete a 2 point conversion, Wolverine 33-12. Watkins Mill takes a couple of knees and end the game with their first win of the season.
