Friday evening the Trojans of Gaithersburg HS played their home opener against the Wolverines of Watkins Mill HS. The Trojans kick off to the Wolverines and in the opening set of downs the Wolverines fumble and the Trojans recover and score the 1st touchdown, 36 seconds into the game, and miss the extra point. The Wolverines start on offense and wound up with throwing an interception giving the Trojans the ball on the 11 yd line. The Trojans quickly score and fail a 2 point conversion, score 12-0 within the 1st 2 minutes and 12 seconds of the game. Gaithersburg ends up fumbling Watkins Mill recovers on their 20, then gives it up and the Trojans score on a 39 yd run and complete a 2 pt conversion with 1:53 left in the 1st qtr.
Starting the 2nd qtr. Trojans intercept the ball on the Wolverines 19 yd line, Gaithersburg capitalize again scoring on a 3 yd run, ex point blocked, Trojans 26-0. Watkins Mill goes 3 and out forced to punt, Trojans fumble on the return and Watkins Mill recovers on the 25 yd line. with 8:35 left in the 2nd qtr. Wolverines fumbles on 4th down. and Trojans recover, Trojans then score on a short pass, extra point is good, score 33-0 :57 seconds left 1st half.
Gaithersburg comes out with 2nd string and goes 3 and out and punt from their 16, Wolverines go 3 and out and punts. With 3:42 left in the 3rd, Trojans fumble on their 40, Wolverines end up going for it on 4th and 8, and turn it over to the Trojans on the incomplete pass.
Starting the 4th qtr, Trojans are in the lead 33-0, the final score comes on the final play, with a 11 yd run, extra point good, Score 40-0.
