Trojans nip the Coyotes 6-2

With the Gaithersburg Trojans win over Clarksburg 6-2 on Thursday, they captured the 2014 Montgomery County 4A/3A West Division Championship. It was not without a struggle as Coyote Zach Thompson muscled the Trojans with his pitching and hitting allowing only one runner through four innings and hitting a monster home run in the third inning for a 1-0 Clarksburg lead. The Trojans were able to tie the game in the bottom half of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Zack DeCarlo. With two outs Nick DeCarlo beats out a dropped third strike allowing Sebastian Ochoa to score the go ahead run. 2 separate RBI’s singles by Brendan Deyo and Trey Martinez pushed the Trojan lead to 6-1 going into the 6th. Zach Thompson would plate another Clarksburg runner but Brendan Deyo who relieved starter Jake Thomas pitched the final two innings giving up just one run while striking out four.
