Undefeated 8-0 Quince Orchard Rolls over Gaithersburg 41-6

Two unbeaten teams from the same city met Friday, October 25th, drawing a huge crowd at Richard Montgomery High School’s field. Gaithersburg senior running back, Northwestern commit, Solomon Vault was still plagued with an injury, which disappointed those who looked forward to seeing what challenge he would pose to the Cougar’s defense. The Trojans had won every game despite losing Vault early on in the season, so Friday’s match-up was projected to be an epic battle.
It turned out to be Quince Orchard’s night. The Cougars, as a team, lived up to the high standards they set for themselves – on offense, led by quarterback Mike Murtaugh, on defense, and special teams – all players showed up for the big game. The Trojans, led by quarterback Nick Decarlo, could not get more than one score to show for all their efforts, but they are likely to end the regular season as the No. 2 seed in 4A West Region. The Gaithersburg Trojans and the Quince Orchard Cougars may meet up again in the playoffs.
Next week, Friday, November 1, 2013, Quince Orchard hosts Northwest, and Gaithersburg will travel to Walter Johnson HS.
