3rd year starter, WR/DB Malcolm Brown scored first for QO with an 11-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Mike Murtaugh. It didn’t take long for Quince Orchard RB Kevin Joppy to get into the end zone for the first of his 2 touchdowns. Throughout the night, Whitman had to contend with a multitude of jaw-dropping Joppy runs, as he rushed for a total of 109 yards, leaving fallen players strewn about the field in his wake. Next, wide receiver Preston Bampoe-Addo scored the first of his 2 touchdowns for Quince Orchard, on a 43-yard pass from Murtaugh. After Joppy’s 2nd touchdown, an unexpected play resulted from the ball bouncing accidentally into QO kicker Troy Porter’s hands. At Head Coach Mencarini’s command, Porter fired the ball straight to FB Kyle Manion in the end zone to make a 2-point conversion. Bampoe-Addo scored the next touchdown on a 43–yard pass from Murtaugh.
The clock ran for the second half, and Cougar RB Shawn Barlow added to QO’s final tally with a touchdown. QO veterans WR/DB Elliot Davis and LB/RB Clay Shelton-Jones each made stunning interceptions that further dashed Whitman’s hopes of getting on the board. Though shut out that night, Whitman had a great game the week before, and the Vikings always know how to fight on through the ups and downs each football season can bring.
