On the 5th game of the season for these teams the Watkins Mill Wolverines hosted the Poolesville Falcon. Early off in the game both teams were even almost all throughout the first quarter hitting consistent jumpers, #5 Senior Forward Alex Sotomayor was consistent with his jumpers in the first, as for Falcons senior guard #22 Collin Turner was on from the arch starting in the first and pretty much the whole game. As the second quarter began it became a matter of who was going to do the little things correct, like grabbing rebounds and taking advantage of second chance opportunities. Senior guard #15 Tyvon Grant of Watkins Mill played under control and kept the team in control with a pass first mentality setting his teammates up with open shots allowing his team to take the lead a few times. Poolesville consistently got to the free throw line and were scoring with every opportunity they had keeping the game tied going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime the Falcons started to heat up scoring on every opportunity and playing defense forcing the Wolverines to turn the ball over. The Falcons controlled the third quarter and went into the 4th quarter with a lead. Early in the 4th for the Wolverines it was a matter of who was going to step up on the defensive side, the offense would turn it on at any point in time. The while team stepped up on defense not allowing Poolesville to get the points of turnovers that they were getting early in the game. Senior forward #5 Alex Sotomayor was hitting most of the shots he took in the fourth keeping the Rines around the Falcons maintained steady play keeping a two point through most of the 4th all the way up to the last couple of seconds where Senior Guard #33 Patrick Schlosser stole the ball for a fast break lay-up forcing overtime.
In the first overtime both teams were doing everything right keeping the game close Poolesville made a few more shots than Watkins Mill allowing them to maintain a small lead throughout the overtime #15 Senior Guard Tyvon Grant got to the free throw line a few times to keep his team in the game only down by 2, with 2.8 seconds left in the overtime once again Senior Guard #33 Patrick Schlosser gets a fast break lay-up opportunity and gets to the free throw line down by 2 and puts in both free throws to force a second overtime. In the second Overtime both teams had limited scoring but both played really good defense not really allowing each other to get anything going. The Falcons scored a few times in the paint and got to the coffee throw line once as well as Watkins Mill, with about 9 seconds left Poolesville puts in a shot to take the lead and the Wolverines get down court with about 1.8 seconds left and put up a shot but came up short.
