In their 5th Game of the season The Poolesville Falcons traveled to play the Watkins Mill Wolverines. Early off in the game it seemed to be even despite the fact that the Lady Falcons got to the basket a lot easier than the Wolverines did. Wolverine Junior guard #11 Deja Smith made things easy on her teammates in the first quarter scoring from the paint and the arch. The Lady Falcons were clicking on all cylinders sharing the ball and everyone was scoring allowing them to end the first quarter with a slight lead over the Lady Rines. Entering the second Senior Guard Kelsey Carnahan of the Lady Falcons started to heat up putting in most of her jumpers and as a team the Lady Falcons started to press the Lady Rines on defense forcing them to turn the ball over, and get fast break opportunities for themselves. The Falcons also were at the free-throw line consistently extending their lead to 15 points going into halftime.
Coming out in the second half the Rines still couldn’t seem to get it together and find an adjustment to beat the aggressive style defense the Falcons were playing, the Falcons strategy continuously worked as they continued to get turnovers and score 1 possession after another. The third quarter was one-sided as the Falcons pretty much dominated it. Early in the fourth Junior guard #23 CC Nazell started to heat up from the outside hitting consecutive jumpers from both corners and by the basket. #11 Deja Smith of the Wolverines also contributed in bringing the Wolverines back into the game as she scored a couple of times early off. Sophomore guard #2 Danielle Durjan of the Wolverines scored 5 points early off late in the 4th bringing her team back into the game, but the Lady Falcons never really took their foot off the gas as the game got towards the end.
Final Score Poolesville HS 52 Watkins Mill HS 42
