Northwest Upsets Damascus HS Boys Varsity Basketball

20121214_JVN_7779 20121214_JVN_7618The Damascus Swarmin Hornets hosted the Northwest Jaguars. Early in the game the Damascus Hornets got out on a 6-0 run with all 6 points being scored by #11 Senior Forward Rashard Budd. The Jaguars defense didn’t hold up to good against the Hornets fast pace attack. Sophomore guard #1 Jamar Wilson of the Jaguars kept his team around by getting to the basket almost whenever he wanted.   Throughout the first quarter the Hornets controlled the game ending the first quarter in control. At the start of the second quarter the Jaguars sped up their offense taking a different approach towards the Hornets. #24 Senior Forward Tivon Lake started playing more aggressively down low, sort of getting into a post game helping his team out, cause that didn’t really have one early off in the game. Senior guard #21 Cade Woody of the Hornets put in a few three pointers keeping his teams momentum ahead of the Jaguars. Going into halftime the Jaguars did lead the game by 3.

Coming out in the second half the Hornets started to slow down a little giving a lot of momentum to the Jaguars and they carried it through the quarter despite foul trouble. The Jaguars guard #1 Jamar Wilson did almost everything right especially on defense getting his team a lead that sort of made it hard on the Hornets as far as getting the lead back in the 3rd quarter. Opening the 4th The Hornets were down by 3 and it came down to who played more as a team and who could outlast their opponent. The Jaguars consistently ran a very fast pace offense and the Hornets were not getting back on defense and they were out rebounded throughout the entire 4th allowing the Jaguars to pull away by more than 12 points, the Jaguars would go on to take the win.

Final Score Damascus HS 55 Northwest HS 70
