Northwest Jaguars nip Churchill Bulldogs

The Northwest Jaguar’s started with a slow first half against the Churchill Bulldogs, but recovered to upset the Bulldogs 27-24. It was the Jaguars first win against the Bulldogs since 2007. The Bulldogs lead 14-0 halfway through the first quarter with huge plays to control the pace, including Jonathan Lee’s 67-yard rush on the opening play of the game. It set up a quick Churchill touchdown. Few minutes later, Jonathan threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Dominique Williams. During the first quarter, a fumble led to the Jaguars scoring on a lateral from Callahan to Joshua Gills, who launched a 42-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Markush.

Northwest woke up when they returned from the halftime break, Northwest started cutting into the lead  midway through the third quarter. Callahan’s 20-yard touchdown pass to Markush, who was tripped, got up and ran an additional 10 yards to catch the ball, score 24-13. Several fourth quarter errors, two fumbles, stopping the bulldogs converting. The Jaguars win was sealed by two fourth quarter touchdowns.
