On Thursday, March 8, 2012, Senior Colleen Marshall and the undefeated Gaithersburg Lady Trojans stormed past the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute Lady Engineers at UMBC’s RAC Arena.
The Lady Trojans took 10-6 lead in very defensive first quarter. They built the lead to 25-15 at the half. As usual, the Lady Trojans came out strong in the third quarter, stretching their lead to 40-21, effectively ending the contest.
They then kept the Lady Engineers at bay in the fourth quarter, cruising to a 47-30 win.
Marshall led the way with 26 points, while Junior Deja Rollins added 9, Sophomore Christine Mabry 7, Senior Jackie Jackson 3, and Sophomore Janessa Fauntroy 2.
The Lady Trojans improved to 26-0 on the season, while extending their winning streak to 51 games. The Lady Engineers suffered their first loss of the season, ending with a record of 23-1.
Gaithersburg moves on to play Dr. Henry A. Wise High School (25-1) in the Maryland 4A Championship Game at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at UMBC’s RAC Arena. Last year, Gaithersburg crushed Wise 58-38.
