Gaitherburg Girls Defeat Northwest HS in 4A Regional Final

Lady Trojans Extend Winning Streak to 50 Games; Head to State Semi-Finals

On Saturday, March 3, 2012, the undefeated Gaithersburg Lady Trojans won a fierce battle against a very talented and competitive Northwest Lady Jaguars team at Montgomery Blair High School. The Lady Trojans took 12-10 lead in back and forth first quarter. But, the Lady Jaguars rallied to take a 19-18 lead at the half.

As is their custom, the Lady Trojans started the third quarter very strong, going on an 11-0 run to grab a 29-19 lead with 3:26 remaining in the third quarter.  However, the Lady Jaguars responded with a 6-0 run, and the third quarter ended with the Lady Trojans ahead 31-25. The fourth quarter proved to be the highest scoring quarter of the game, with both teams pushing the pace and making clutch shots and free throws.  But, the Lady Trojans were able to keep the Lady Jaguars at bay for much of the final stanza, holding on for a hard-fought victory.

The Lady Trojans improved to 25-0 for the season, while extending their winning streak to 50 games. The Lady Jaguars ended a stellar season at 20-5.
