Wheaton Gave The Mill a Challenge

The Watkins Mill Wolverines host the Wheaton Knights friday evening at the Mill. After a 0-5 start to the season, Watkins Mill has started to taking care of business on the road and at home and getting wins. This game is going to be won by toughness to the end. Watkins Mill gets the lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The Knights started making key shots, that help tie the game up before halftime. Coming into the 3rd quarter the Knights took control of the game. The Wolverines crowd help put them back on track end of 3rd 33-36 Wheaton. In the fourth quarter, there was a lot of physical play, pushing, hitting, but the Mill crowd continue to help making the Wolverines play great basketball, #15 Tyvon Grant began to show his leadership by scoring with the help of #2 Jeff Adarkwa and 2 key steals, in crunch time to keep the score close. Watkins Mill defense came together with the help of #23 Torez Rhea and #1 Le’Nard Wilson holding it down in the paint. In the final minute left in the game both team battle for the lead but end up going in to OVERTIME. 50-50 TIE.

Watkins Mill continue to play good basketball increasing their lead little by little.

Wheaton Knights Head Coach Sharief Hashim: Says “its was a great game we play hard for 28 minutes it was a full game, we miss free throws, we miss lay-up and we had turnovers, its hard to win the game with these mistakes”

Watkins Mill Wolverines Head Coach Jay Tringone: Says “we will take a win however it comes, it was a tough fight the whole game, we had a chance to win it in regulations, but came up short, we knock down a couple of shots in overtime, I feel real good about the fact that we were able to push from behind, and how regulation ended, you can have your spirit broken a little when a team hits two free throws with 3 sec left in the game but we came out and we did a really nice job, im really happy about the game”
