Watkins Mill HS Claims 1st State Boy’s Soccer Title

Watkins Mill showed up to win at UMBC, and they arrived with 9 bus loads of support to help. Including the varsity cheerleaders and the marching band. It appeared to be about 3/4’s of the stands were covered by Watkins MIll fans. Mt Hebron started the game strong and jumped on the score board 11 minutes into the game with a score from Will Rice. WM goalie Rolando Alba save his 1st of many saves 13 minutes into the event. WM came alive 16 minutes into the game with a score from Obed Agyei. This appeared to be the real turning point of the game and the fans roared to life. MTH goalie Drew Staedell saved his 1st goal 25 minutes into the game. WM Sergio Mosquera scored 28 minutes into the 1st half. 47 minutes into the game, WM’s Oscar Carcamo scored the 3rd and final score. The goalie for WM had a total of 9 saves & MTH goalie had 7 saves for the game. This is Jeff Heckerts 11th year as the head coach of Watkins Mill, and has an overall record of 91-66-4. This is Watkins Mills 1st State Title since year 2000 with a Baseball title.

Coach Heckert stated “These guys didn’t seem fazed, and knew that there was a lot of time, and if we played our game the best team would win. We were the best team tonight.”
